Did anyone know my Dad, Don Jarman? 5 Years, 4 Months ago
Hello,

Just wandering if any of you would have remembered my Dad? I knew he flew 1-11s but without his logbooks to hand am not sure if he previously flew other aircraft at BCal. When I was a small boy, we lived next to Gatwick and i have memories of crew popping by and meetings of the sports and social club there.
Sadly he passed away about 18 years ago.

My mum was cabin crew too. Nina Jarman(nee Herbit) is well and living in Sussex.

Between them they can't have put me off as a couple of years ago I landed my first flying job!

Cheers, Ed

Hi Ed.

I had the pleasure of flying as cabin crew, with your father on the 1-11 in the early '80s. I flew with your mum too, also on short haul if memory serves correctly. Both were a joy to fly with. Mark Whiting.

Of course I remember Don! He was a lovely man, great to fly with. I can write it now at last, your dad helped me when I stated flying. In those days, The Captain was God, and things were not as regulated as now. I am French, and had not been home for at least a year. I had to wait another year before finally getting my concessions, so was a little down at the mouth. Don allowed me to come on a flight with him, although I was not technically working that day, so I could see my parents at the Airport. I never forgot his kind gesture, it meant the world to me-I was 20...I am so sorry to hear he passed away, be proud, he will always be well remembered.
Take care

Hello Ed, I remember both your parents very well.

Your mother would remember me as Jean Baxter and then Wollen.

Please give Nina my regards

Wow, how lovely to get these replies.

Mark, I spoke to my mum and she remembered you - said that she flew with you when she went back as a 'Golden Oldie' and coming back from somewhere you experienced the worst wake turbulence of her time flying.

Caroline, Thanks so much for your reply. It is always nice to hear stories about my dad. Kind of helps fill the gaps a bit as I was fairly young when he passed away. Really, really appreciated.

Jean, I am seeing my mum tomorrow so I will pass on your regards.

Cheers, Ed
